Erten production approach

Plan production around your brand, from fabric and fit to sampling and packaging.

Style and colour options

Choose your collection direction.

A grandad-collar shirt uses a simple neck band instead of conventional collar points. It can be developed in different fabrics for minimal casual ranges, summer collections or relaxed occasionwear. Band height, front opening and placket length define the style together.

A simple collar band and full-length fastening offer versatile use. Select the front opening and top-button position with neck comfort in mind.

Light texture creates a relaxed appearance. Balance cuffs and hem shape with the understated collar.

A shorter opening can suit relaxed summer collections. The placket must open far enough for the shirt to pass comfortably over the head.

Fabric and collection direction

Linen, cotton poplin and suitable textured weaves are matched to the intended drape. Collar firmness is assessed with the fabric and interlining on the sample.

Style-specific manufacturing details

Collar-band height, end shape and the first button's position affect neck comfort. Full or half plackets, pockets and sleeve details are specified for the intended use.

From sample to order

Start with a reference garment, size chart or design file. We review styles, colours and size quantities alongside labels, packaging and the destination country. Sample approval, material availability and a written quotation establish the production scope.

Product development guide

The right sample. Clear decisions.

Fit and wearing comfort

The band should sit evenly without tightening around the neck. On popover styles, assess the opening and chest ease together. Collar height may look different across sizes, so review grading on samples.

What to check on the sample

Inspect the top edge of the collar band, symmetrical front ends and the placket finish. Support that is too stiff can affect neck comfort in light fabric. Check for bulk or pulling at the bottom corners of a half placket.

Care, finishing and packing

Assess fabric and collar support together so the band does not twist or become too soft after care. Use the approved reference to show whether the final collar should sit flat or slightly curved.

  • Collar-band height and front opening
  • Full or half placket

If your tech pack is not ready, we can start with a well-fitting reference garment, measurements and visual references. Agree fabric, fit and trim approvals before production.

frequently asked
questions.

How are grandad-collar measurements checked?

Neck circumference, collar height and ease at the closure are checked together. Reference measurements or a garment sample help establish the intended opening.

Should a grandad-collar style be designed for a tie?

These styles are generally developed for outfits without a tie. If a jacket or special accessory is intended, include it in the sample review. Choose band height and the front opening around that use.

How is the minimum order determined?

Flexible MOQ. Order quantities are assessed by style, fabric, colour and size distribution. Share your approximate quantity so we can review options that suit the materials and production plan.

How are branding and international delivery planned?

Brand and care labels, packaging, destination country and delivery requirements are defined for each order. Transport, delivery terms, costs and timing are confirmed in the written quotation.
